Your account Step 28 of 35

Delete your account

How an owner deletes an organisation, what stops at once, the 30 days in which it can still be cancelled or exported, and what is deleted after.

Updated

An owner can delete the organisation from Organisation, the last link in the organisation’s part of the left sidebar. Deletion takes effect in two stages: the organisation stops at once, and is deleted for good 30 days later. Until then it can be cancelled.

Before you delete

  • Export what you want to keep. See Export all your data. The export still works during the 30 days.
  • Move hosted records. Hosted DNS records keep answering until the organisation is deleted, then stop. Publish your own records first; each record’s card on DNS records shows what to publish. See Hosted records.
  • MSPs: deal with your clients first. An MSP organisation with client organisations can’t be deleted: This MSP account still has client accounts. Delete or hand them over first.

Delete it

  1. Open Organisation. Under Delete this account, type the organisation’s name exactly as shown.
  2. Choose Delete this account.

For safety, you must have signed in within the last 15 minutes. If you haven’t, the page asks you to sign in again first.

What happens at once

The account becomes read-only at once: report addresses stop accepting reports, alerts and digests stop, and no further payment is taken. Every page shows the date it will be deleted. Reading, exporting and cancelling still work; anything else is refused.

To cancel, an owner opens Organisation and chooses Cancel the deletion. Everything comes back as it was.

After 30 days

Its reports, records, settings and everyone’s access to it are deleted for good. Your own sign-in is not deleted: you can still use it for other organisations you belong to, or create a new one.
