Your first domain Step 8 of 35

Get your first report

When the first DMARC reports arrive, where they show up, and what the organisation overview and the domain's Overview tab tell you on day one.

Updated

Once the DMARC record is published, you wait for mail receivers to report. Large receivers send an aggregate report once a day for every domain they saw mail from, so the first usually arrives within 24 to 48 hours, provided the domain sent mail in that time.

You don’t need to watch for it. Reports appear in the app as they’re processed.

On the organisation’s Overview

Overview, the first link in the left sidebar, lists your domains with their messages, the share passing DMARC and a volume sparkline for the window you choose (7 days, 30 days or 90 days). Under it, Recent reports shows the latest reports received: when, which receiver sent it (Reporter), for which domain and day, and how many messages it covered.

The organisation Overview: domains, unadded domains and recent reports

Reports for domains you haven’t added appears when a domain whose record names your report address isn’t on your list yet.

On the domain’s Overview tab

Open a domain to see its tabs: Overview, Sources, Timeline, DNS records and Mail security. The Overview shows:

  • DMARC pass: the share of messages that passed, and how many.
  • Messages in the window.
  • Published policy, as receivers reported seeing it.
  • Quarantined or rejected by receivers applying your policy. At p=none this is zero.
  • Next step: where the domain is on the way to p=reject, and what to do next. On day one it says to keep monitoring; see the 14-day review.
  • Volume and compliance over the window, and Sources: who sent the mail, in four groups.

Setup is finished when the first report is in. What to do with it is the next section: Identify your sending sources.

Still nothing after 48 hours?

The domain’s Overview says No reports for this domain in the last 30 days. Work through I published the record and nothing happened.
